In short, it entertains as it works. I think the people that will be the biggest critics of this movie are the ones that can't get past the realistic factor.

But I guess you could say it is unrealistic in the same way Minority Report was, you have to be able to get into the different world they are creating for you.

And it is a bit long at parts, but you don't mind cause it's enjoyable. I really liked it, and if you are looking for a visual feast and that fun summer action film, skip Fantastic Four and check out The Island.

Es folgte der Pächter Fritz Beu. Er erweiterte das Logierhaus. Es hatte im Jahr dann 25 Zimmer. Unweit des Hauses am Weststrand der Insel waren einfache Badeanstalten eingerichtet.

Die Überfahrt zur Insel erfolgte mit kleinen Segel- oder Ruderbooten. Ab wurden auch Motorboote genutzt.

Auch durch den Anschluss von Lauterbach an das Eisenbahnnetz im Jahr ergab sich eine deutlich verbesserte Erreichbarkeit der Insel.

Die Besucherzahl stieg deutlich an. Es kamen nun auch viele Tagestouristen. Fischer fürchteten jedoch die Konkurrenz der Tiere und vertrieben sie mit Böllern , wobei heute Stand Kormorane im Gebiet leben.

Auch der Ansiedlungsversuch von Fasanen scheiterte, da die Tiere abgeschossen wurden. Ausgesetztes Rehwild schwamm jeweils wieder nach Rügen zurück.

Bereits ursprünglich lebten auf Vilm auch Adler. Mehrere auf Vilm geschossene Adler wurden ausgestopft. Noch bis befand sich ein solches Exemplar in der Gaststube auf der Insel.

Später, in der Zeit der DDR gab es wieder einen Horst mit Seeadlern , die jedoch verschwanden, nachdem unmittelbar neben dem Horst in den er Jahren während der Brutzeit mit einem Hubschrauber ein Antennenmast abgesetzt worden war.

Als Seezeichen hatte Vilm keine sonderliche Bedeutung. Der Name Die Scheibe soll auf diese Nutzung zurückgehen. Mit dem Ostseesturmhochwasser im November traf ein schweres Sturmhochwasser auch den Vilm und führte zu deutlichen Veränderungen in der Landschaft.

Der Mittelvilm wurde an zwei Stellen durchbrochen, beide Durchbrüche verschwanden jedoch wieder. Da die Insel zuvor über längere Zeit nicht von Sturmhochwassern betroffen war, hatten sich im Bereich der Hochufer schräge, mit einer dichten Grasnarbe versehene Böschungen gebildet.

Es bildeten sich erneut Steilküsten. Weitere Sturmhochwasser ereigneten sich in den Jahren , und Auch hierbei kam es zu Küstenverschiebungen von bis zu zehn Metern.

An vielen alten Bäumen finden sich eingeschnitzte alte Initialen, darunter auch Wappen und Darstellungen von Hirsch und Pferd.

Diese die Bäume schädigende Unsitte war bis in die er Jahre gebräuchlich. Sie wurde am 2. Dezember durch Verordnung des Stettiner Regierungspräsidenten unter Naturschutz gestellt.

Allerdings wird schon in einem erschienenen Reisehandbuch darauf hingewiesen, dass die Insel unter Naturschutz stehe. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg kam es am Oktober zu einem schwerwiegenden Schiffsunglück in den Gewässern vor Vilm.

Ein mit Munition beladenes Schiff lief auf die Untiefe Schnakenwerder. Es kam zu einer Explosion, bei der alle an Bord befindlichen 81 Personen starben.

Das Haus Putbus wurde im Zuge der Bodenreform enteignet. Die Verwaltung der Insel erfolgte nun durch die Stadt Putbus. Vilm erlebte wieder einen verstärkten Besucherverkehr.

Wochentags besuchten bis zu Personen die Insel und am Wochenende waren es sogar über Personen. Im Jahr eröffnete die Gesellschaft für Sport und Technik auf Vilm eine Segelschule, die jedoch bereits nach drei Jahren wieder geschlossen wurde.

Merrick, a scientist who runs the compound, is concerned and places probes in Lincoln's body to monitor his cerebral activity.

While secretly visiting an off-limits power facility in the basement where technician James McCord works, Lincoln discovers a live moth in a ventilation shaft, leading him to deduce the outside world is not really contaminated.

Lincoln follows the moth to another section, where he discovers the "lottery" is actually a system to selectively remove inhabitants from the compound, where the "winner" is then used for organ harvesting , surrogate motherhood , and other important purposes for each one's wealthy sponsor, of whom they are clones.

Merrick learns Lincoln has discovered the truth, which forces Lincoln to escape. Meanwhile, Jordan has been selected for the island. Lincoln and Jordan escape the facility, and emerge in the desert.

Lincoln explains the truth to her, and they set out to discover the real world. Lincoln and Jordan find McCord, who explains that all the facility residents are clones of wealthy sponsors, and are kept ignorant about the real world and conditioned to never question their environment or history.

McCord provides the name of Lincoln's sponsor in Los Angeles, and helps them to the Yucca maglev station, before mercenaries kill him.

In New York City, Jordan's sponsor, model Sarah Jordan, is comatose following a car crash and requires transplants from Jordan to survive. Lincoln's sponsor, Tom Lincoln, gives Lincoln some explanation about the cloning institute, causing Lincoln to realize that he has gained Tom's memories.

Tom agrees to help Lincoln and Jordan but secretly contacts Merrick as he desperately needs Lincoln's liver to survive due to his cirrhosis, who sends Laurent and the mercenaries to their location.

Lincoln tricks Laurent into shooting Tom, allowing him to assume Tom's identity. Merrick surmises that a cloning defect was responsible for Lincoln's memories and behavior, resulting in him and every future clone generation to question their environment and even tap into their sponsor's memories.

To prevent this, he decides to eliminate the four newest generations of clones. Lincoln and Jordan, however, plan to liberate the other clones.

Posing as Tom, Lincoln returns to the compound to destroy the holographic projectors that conceal the outside world. Jordan allows herself to be caught to assist Lincoln's plan.

Laurent, who has moral qualms about the clones' treatment after witnessing their fight for survival and learning that Sarah Jordan may not survive even with the organ transplants, helps Jordan.

Lincoln kills Merrick, and the clones are freed, seeing the outside world for the first time. Lincoln and Jordan sail away in a boat together toward the island, where all the clones were promised they would go.

Principal photography for the island began on October 24, The city parts were shot in Detroit, Michigan , with Michigan Central Station one of the notable locations.

The computer in Merrick's office at the Institute, which features a large, tabletop touchscreen display capable of detecting several forms of input, was rumored to be a large version of Microsoft PixelSense.

The design was actually proposed by a technology adviser at MIT , who aimed for the production of a believable vision of futuristic technology. Ultimately, the film was considered a box office bomb , which Edward Jay Epstein of Slate blamed on poor publicity.

Epstein notes that research polls showed little awareness of The Island's impending release amongst its target audience and that trailers bore little relation to the film's plot.

He writes, "What really failed here was not the directing, acting, or story which were all acceptable for a summer movie but the marketing campaign.

The Island drew mixed reviews from critics. The website's consensus calls the film "[a] clone of THX , Coma , and Logan's Run " and describes it as "another loud and bombastic Michael Bay movie where explosions and chases matter more than characters, dialogue, or plot.

The brothers' uncle, Hideo, asks Junpei to light signal fires at night so that he can make trips to the main island for rations as they are running low on rice.

Meanwhile, their father, Tatsuo, with the help of their school teacher, Sawako, secretly supplies the rest of the village with foodstuff from the Dawn Corps' emergency stores.

When Hideo finds out about this, he tries to smuggle the food to sell outside the island, but gets caught instead. Tatsuo rushes to the cave where the Dawn Corps' supplies are kept and gets arrested.

On September 25, , the Japanese on the island are made to assemble at the harbour to be sent back to the mainland. Junpei and Kanta set out with Sawako, while their grandfather chooses to stay behind, determined to spend his last moments on the sea.

The three are reunited with Hideo while boarding the ship, and arrive at an internment camp at Maoka , in western Karafuto , a few days later, where they wait for the ship that will take them back to Japan.

Hideo finds out that Tatsuo is alive and at another internment camp on the other side of the mountains "just a stone's throw away". Kanta, taking his words literally, sets out to meet his father, aided by Junpei.

Sawako and Hideo track the two down the next day, and to Hideo's surprise, Sawako decides to visit Tatsuo's camp as well.

The four of them drive to a pillbox where they spend the night, but in the morning they spot Soviet soldiers who've managed to track them down, and Hideo runs ahead as a decoy while Sawako and the children make their escape.

The trio are able to make their way to the internment camp holding Tatsuo, where they have a tearful farewell, with Tatsuo promising he'll find a way to reunite with them no matter what.

However, as they try to return, Kanta suddenly falls extremely ill and they are caught by the camp guards. The warden arranges for the trio to be sent back to the harbor by truck, but Kanta succumbs to his illness en route.

Junpei and Sawako reunite with Hideo at the harbor where they line up to board the ship back to Japan. Added to Watchlist.
