This sequel is somewhat entertaining, but it could have been much better. Luckily for Stone, he assembles a colorful cast of actors that keeps this so-so sequel afloat.
The film had so much potential in being so much more, but it ends up falling flat. As a whole, it's decent, but it lacks the power of the original.
Michael Douglas is very good here as usual, and his screen presence is really what kept me involved in the film.
Wall Street Money Never Sleeps is not a good sequel, but it is somewhat entertaining, just don't expect anything truly remarkable.
Oliver Stone seems to navigate sketchy territory with this one, and it feels like he is trying too hard at outdoing his original film. The idea of creating a sequel to Wall Street was interesting, but the end result is somewhat lacking even though it's entertaining to some degree.

Lambrechts felt that Stone's growth as a film director might mirror Gekko's as a person; having had used time to calm down over the years and settle into a more relaxed state of being.
He concluded that the film's final result is not "quite the incendiary attack that it could have been, but it still has plenty to say while also managing to be an entertaining crowd pleaser.
In contrast to the film's detractors, BoxOffice journalist Pete Hammond said the film was "brilliantly cast" and labeled it a "crackerjack powerhouse of a movie that shines a light on the financial machinations".
The writer predicted the Wall Street sequel's box office performance would be brisk, while the prospects were assured on DVD.
He considered Stone to be proclaiming a message of the "cancerous effects of greed". He ended by saying that it is not a "great movie", but explained that it is an "effective commentary on what greed cost" everyone.

And far too constructed. Some promising bits can't cover the fact that this is a snoozefest. And really, poor Shia LaBeouf, being made to act with so many great actors that make him pale badly in comparison.
