Overall, there was plenty of space to store your luggage and clothes and feel comfortable at all times. We even had a little terrace with 2 chairs and a table, overlooking the castles, surrounded by pots of flowers.
The service we received was friendly, efficient and fast, from beginning to end. Breakfast was good and plenty, with lots of choices, possibly among the best we had while in Germany.
The breakfast hall is beautiful, and you can even serve breakfast outside on the terrace. There's a little road that leads to the castle behind the property, with great views and it doesn't seem to be crowded.
Walking down the main street for 5 mins you can find a place to rent bikes from, a pharmacy and a great restaurant with a Biergarten and good prices.
Within a min walk, you can find plenty of other places for eating, even a supermarket. We visited during covid times and felt safe as everyone respected the rules at all times.
For people who love nature, cycling, quality and highly functional places, I recommend coming to this area, staying in Schwangau and sleeping at Hotel Weinbauer.
It's simply a magical place where you feel respected, taken care of, safe and relaxed at all times!
Hotel location is fantastic. Lake,Castles and woods beyond any description. Hotel rooms were comfortable and spatious.
Breakfast was rich and tasty. We stayed 3 days in two rooms as a family. I regret not to stay longer. Just 2. It is situated in the village of Alterschofren in the picturesque Allgäu Mountains.
Claus is a great host. Our stay was comfortable. Because we arrived late, Claus made arrangements for us to collect our keys from a secure mailbox.
He serves great breakfast, and offers many insights into the Schwangau area. He suggestion to leave the car in his parking, and walk to the castles was truly appreciated.
By walking and observing, we experienced the castles from a totally different angle, which is highly recommended. Set in a traditional Bavarian building, this 3-star hotel enjoys a picturesque location in the Schwangau region.
A regional restaurant and bright rooms with internet access are offered here. Great location in walk distance from known places, good restaraunt and friendly stuff Excellent mountain view.
This hotel beside Lake Forggensee offers large rooms with balconies, and free WiFi in public areas. Super quiet and uncomplicated. Quite out in the country, but easy access to Neuschwanstein Castle!
This property offers scenic views of the castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein, both within a 5-minute drive of the hotel. Das Schwanstein also features a garden and a terrace.
Convenience - parking, town to stroll, restaurants within walking distance. Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. We had a great view of the mountains from our balcony.

The lakeside village is mainly residential with a few shops, two supermarkets and tourist information. The village is flat, but the Alps frame the views to the south and east.
Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein Castles are visible from the village and are a pleasant walk of 2km away. The same is true for Füssen which is a deservedly famous town, with its intricately painted buildings, museum and castle.
The walking, snowshoeing and skiing trails are pleasant and easy, with good signage and local maps. There was fresh snow when we were there, but most of the trails were OK to walk.
Even the 17km round trip from the castles, past Alpsee, across the Austrian border and back to Füssen was mostly straightforward in the snow.
This was our 4th trip. Covid arrangements at the castles were good. Only 10 people per tour. Book online before you go or get to the ticket office at least 45 minutes before it opens.
In August it was not possible to enter the castle coutyards without a ticket. It normally would be possible As well as the two castles, don't miss the walk through the gorge below Neuschwanstein and the walk though the woods up the hill beyond the Maria Bridge.
Walking up to Neuschwanstein is nearly as fast as taking the horse drawn carts if you're reasonably fit. Neuschwanstein is a must for travelers in Germany.
It's the quintessential Romantic period castle. While it's not a "real" castle built during the middle ages, it embodies the idea of a fairy tale.
If you want something historically accurate, visit Burg Eltz. If you want Cinderella, you've come to the right place.
Schwangau, Fussen, the Bavarian castles and the area in general are very nice to visit. It's super simple to move around by car I didn't try public transports, but I could see there were a lot of buses.
I really recommend to book the tickets for the castles in advance, as there were a long queue. If you have time, walking on the paths into the wood and discovering the area and the lakes should be nice, too.
Well worth the trip. Lovely opulent castle at the top of a beautiful rise you can travel up To by carriage. Read the history beforehand and see both castles.
It really adds to the experience. Particularly enjoyed the over the top bed chamber complete with bed canopy and original furnishings.
Schwangau represents the small German town we had expected. Nearby Fussen was very active with shopping for nearly any taste.
The main attraction for us was to visit Schloss Neuschwanstein and Schloss Hohenschwangau. They did not disappoint, absolutely magnificent.
It was super close to the castle and the staff got us castle tickets for us. Very amazing stay. Basement parking was an added feature.
The location is great, really close to the castles, in a quiet neighborhood. The room was really comfortable.
Very good heating - the outside for our dog - private carpark. List your property. We have more than 70 million property reviews, and they're all from real, verified guests.
