For those of us that are fans of the movies, this one is much better than the second and is an ok movie, but not a great one.
Starship Troupers is totally unique, witty, exciting, and pokes fun as government and the military while showing how bad-ass it is to fight and serve.
Very good science fiction. Fun and engaging. I've watches the trilogy over and over for years Casper Van Dien is a great actor and makes these movies really fun to watch.

Several reviewers have also commented on the political and religious elements of this movie and I can honestly say that it doesn't matter which affiliation you have with either, you will likely find your intelligence being insulted.
There were several character that I hoped would get killed off, just so I didn't have to see them on screen anymore.
The gore factor was high, with a lot of decapitations and amputated limbs, but the effects were so so bad that they were not in least bit believable a mixed blessing :- There really is very little to recommend in this movie other than some eye candy in the form of Jolene Blalock Lola , and even that is over played in this poorly made movie.
I wanted to be able to recommend this movie, I just can't! When I opened it it wasn't even the disk it was some writable cd for music and the player wouldn't even read the "disk" The movie disk was replaced with something else.
I would give it a 0 out of 5 if i could. Don't know if it was all the sellers but this one lied. He's the older and wiser version.
The story is ok it gets better as the movie progresses. Unfortunately they just can't quite catch that fun magic of the first Starship Troopers.
Still, if you're a fan of the first Starship Troopers you'll probably enjoy Marauder. The first Starship was fun and actually holds up pretty well because of the relationships between the characters.
This one is pretty stupid, the characters are cardboard, the acting is marginal at best and dreadful mostly, Casper Van Dien barely has anything to do, there are no relationships to speak of and the whole premise of the movie is ridiculous.
I've seen worse but basically don't waste your time. This has got to be one of the worst films I've ever watched. If you're a fan of that, stay away.
Stay FAR away. Stay away like this film is Bug City. And even if you take away comparisons to RSTC, it's still a bad film. Especially with all the forced religious subtext at the end.
Like what am I watching? Starship Troopers or a Pureflix film?! Thank the Gods I only rented this mess of a film. I only wish I could put a bug bomb in my memory to forget everything about this awful film.
But I'am glad they kept the style with the Federal Network. The graphics weren't as good and the acting sucked but I liked the casper van dien cameo as they tried again.
